I’ve previously blogged about OPI Rainbow Connection and wasn’t very impressed with the amount of glitter or the look without a coloured base behind it. So this time I tried a dark coloured nail polish underneath the glitter and this is how it turned out:
It looks much better although it’s a pain to get off my nails. I really need to invest in a good nail polish remover! Any recommendations?
I visited the wholesalers with my friend (whose mum is a hairdresser) the other day, to see what the place had to offer. It was like heaven! We were like kids in a sweet shop.
In my previous blog post on munch and makeup, I said how I do like glitter! So when I saw the OPI rainbow connection nail polish glittering on the shelf, I couldn’t contain my excitement. The bottle looked so pretty and even better in real life compared to the photos that I’ve seen floating around the net.
When painting it on my nails, I skipped a coloured base, just to see how glittery it looked without it. However, I think my nails would look so much better with a dark coloured base, maybe black, grey or navy blue which I’ll try next time.
To get the amount of glitter I wanted, I used 3 coats of the nail polish. Unfortunately after 1 day of wearing it, the polish started to chip. It wouldn’t be noticeable to anyone else, but I could just see it myself which bothered me a little bit!
Overall, it was a great purchase and I can’t wait to try it with a coloured base.
I also bought the muppettes mini ail lacquers, which I shall be testing out – once I’ve managed to get this glitter off my nails!
I picked up a free Missguided nail polish in each of Cosmopolitan magazine’s September and October issues. The colours I got were Missbehave (light pink) and Misstaken (orange) and are worth £5.00 each.
So far, I’ve only tried the Missbehave polish, which is the colour on my nails in the picture below.
I just needed two coats of the polish to get the same shade as the colour in the bottle, but I used three coats (just to see how much of a difference it made!). The polish applies on well and leaves a nice gloss, but it doesn’t dry superfast, but it’s still faster than some of the nail polishes I’ve bought in the past.
I would definitely buy other Missguided nail polishes, but looking at their website, there isn’t that much of a selection to choose from. Hopefully there’ll be more soon!
Have you tried any of Missguided’s freebies? Or have you bought any of their beauty products?
Today I’m wearing purple passion on my nails. As mentioned in one of my previous posts on munch and makeup, this is actually the second time I’ve purchased this nail polish from Models Own.
The colour is nice and a bit unusual – in the daytime the polish looks slightly pink but in the evening the purple looks quite deep and dark.
I really like this nail polish as it has a smooth texture which makes it easy to paint my nails and it dries quickly too. I used two coats of purple passion which gave my nails matte look but I used a protective layer on top to get a glossy finish.
Have you got a passion for purple?
Without wanting to sound like I’m under the age of 10, I have to admit, I do like glitter. However, the glitter for my eyes and nails only come out at around Christmas, as it’s probably the only excusable time to wear it!
In one of my previous posts on munch and makeup, I blogged about my Models Own order. One nail polish that I bought was their metallic coloured nail polish ‘Champagne’.
I used 3 layers, but I could have happily worn 2 layers of the polish. It’s surprisingly more sparkly than I thought the colour was going to be.
The nail polish hasn’t chipped at all. The only downside is that the shininess keeps distracting me when I’m typing!
What do you think about sparkles and glitter?
Those of you who have read my other nail polish blog post on munch and makeup know that I’m a fan of Models Own. The shade ‘Jade Green’ was one of the three nail polish colours in my previous order which I’ve been wearing for a few days now and love it.
I was a little disappointed at first, as after applying two coats of Jade Green my nails still looked transparent – I needed to apply three coats of polish to get its full burst of colour. On a plus point the polish dried quickly so it wasn’t too much of a bother!
Another good thing was that I didn’t coat a protective layer of polish on my nails and not only does Jade Green have a glossy and smooth finish, there are still no chips after a few days of wearing it!
What’s your favourite nail polish colour?
To celebrate reaching 50,000 likes on Facebook, Models Own gave fans 50% off their online orders, so as a huge fan I decided it would be rude not to make a purchase.
Since my first ever order with Models Own at the beginning of 2010, their parcels have been perfectly packaged and make me feel special every time!
This time round I went for their jade stone, champagne, purple passion (which I’ve had and used up before) and bubble gum nail polish.
I chose to wear the bubblegum nail polish first, as the strikingly bright colour jumped out at me! It’s so neon pink I couldn’t capture it properly in any of my photos. The texture is quite matte, which I like, but I’m thinking of putting a glossy top coat over it.
I’m looking forward to trying out the other colours soon!
Are you brave enough to wear neon nails?
