It’s coming up to pay day which is around the time each month where I start making my wish list of beauty goodies! Here’s what’s on my list this month:
Elemis Fresh Skin Clear Overnight Serum
My current Medik8 serum is good but I’m always on the lookout for something new. I like the sound of Elemis’ Fresh Skin Clear Overnight Serum that describes itself as a decongesting serum that improves skin clarity by gently smoothing and exfoliating. It’s £18 on HQHairwhich seems like a good price for a serum. Let me know if you have any serum recommendations! Continue reading

There’s something about airports that I love (mainly shopping, restaurants, the pub and the fact that I’m going on holiday!). For my flight to Mauritius I picked up a few ‘freebies’ from magazines including Ciate nail polish, Benefit’s that girl and Body Shop eyeliners:
I’ve previously blogged about OPI Rainbow Connection and wasn’t very impressed with the amount of glitter or the look without a coloured base behind it. So this time I tried a dark coloured nail polish underneath the glitter and this is how it turned out:
It looks much better although it’s a pain to get off my nails. I really need to invest in a good nail polish remover! Any recommendations?
I’ve previously blogged about Nars Outremer Eyeshadow and mentioned how it wasn’t as bright as I thought it would be. However, I’ve now tried it with a dampened brush and it certainly is electric! Here’s how it looked:
I do love the colour and it’s definitely less chalky with a damp brush, but I still find it hard to apply and think I need some more practice! Sometimes I worry that I look like a 5 year old let loose on the makeup counter!
The last nail art that I blogged about on munch and makeup was the strawberry and watermelon nail art. I wanted to try painting pandas on my nails (who doesn’t like pandas?!) and especially bought some white nail polish to do so.
The nail polishes that I used were No.7 stay perfect clear base/finishing polish, Missguided misbehave pink, Sinful confession white and Models own nail art pen.
Unfortunately the nib of my Models own nail art pen decided to stop working after the first panda that I did on my thumb, so I had to use the brush instead – hence the pandas look a bit furry!
I started off by painting their white faces, once dried; I then painted their black ears, black eyes and noses. Once they dried I put tiny white dots on their eyes to make their eyeballs, finishing off with a layer of clear nail polish.
I also used a light pink colour as the background, which I avoided at the beginning as I thought I might need to do a lot of correcting, but the pandas were actually quite easy to do!
Today I’m wearing Wocka Wocka! and Excuse Moi! Which are part of the mini Muppets nail collection, which I’ve blogged about in one of my posts on Munch and Makeup.
The Wocka Wocka! is a stunning shimmery red colour, which applies on easily and dries relatively quickly. In the photo I’ve used 3 coats of polish, but you only need 2 coats to get the deep colour. However, after wearing 2 coats for one day, I somehow managed to chip it and it looked quite worn on the tip of my fingernails. Think that I need to start wearing a top/finishing coat!
On my thumb I tested out Excuse Moi! which is a lovely shimmer with a light pink base and lots sparkles, including green, pink, red, yellow, blue, silver and orange. I’ll definitely be wearing this over one of my pink shades of nail polishes!
